Sea Glass

Here are some pictures of some of the sea glass I've picked up. These first three are from the end of the summer last year. And the second three are from earlier this year.

Beautiful!!! How long have you been collecting the sea glass? Any idea what the second picture with the brown glass was from. Have you been able to date any of your glass?

We really started I guess last summer.

I tried to see if I could find any bottles online that looked similar to that one piece but I never found anything. I don't really know how to date or identify the pieces at all.

Wow. I've found ONE piece. It was a small brown piece on the shores of Plymouth. I don't live near any oceans and about 4 hours away from Lake Erie. I do go up to Kelleys Island (on Lake Erie) every summer, but I've never found any sea glass up there.

I make "faux sea glass" in my rock tumbler at home.

How do they turn out? Do they look nice?

They turn out pretty good. They do look nice. I like the parts of the bottle that have something engraved in them or the bottle neck.

I just took a load out of yellow (more like a yellow/green) and red glass. It wasn't true red glass--but a coating on the inside of the bottle.

I'm tumbling a load of black glass (Black Tower wine), white glass from a small Absolute Vodka bottle and pinkish/purple glass from two small plates I picked up at a garage sale. They'll be out next Sunday.
