Hello! I just wanted to say hi. I grew up land-locked in Ohio and I still am, so I never went sea glass hunting growing up. I heard about it on a Martha Stewart Living show back in 2001. When I went to New England in 2003, I made sure to look for sea glass and I found one little piece of brown glass. I've never found any sea glass on the beaches of Kelleys Island (up in Lake Erie), where I go every summer. |
I LOVE that book, "Pure Sea Glass"! The pictures are gorgeous!
I use a rock tumbler to make "faux sea glass" (I don't try to pass it off as the real thing). So far, I've just separated it into Ziplock bags with a note about what it's from. Whenever I break a glass, I keep it to tumble. I also use wine bottles and other pieces of glass. I just started looking at garage sales for cheap glassware. I found two small lavender plates and and orangeish/yellow dish--all for 30c!!
Someday, I plan to put them into stone garden steps in a mosic pattern.
